King Hussein

Born in 1935 and expired in 1999. King of JORDAN since 1953. He has maintained a moderate course in his relations with the West and other Arab leaders. The loss of W Jordan to Israel in the 1967 ARAB-ISRAELI WAR led to hostility between Hussein and the Palestinian guerrilla movement and to a civil war (1970) in Jordan that Hussein won, achieving stronger control of the country. After then, his mission was to demolish the Palestinian reputation amongst the Arab countries. He has been in contact with all Israeli prime ministers since the 60's. Hussein signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1994 defying Allah's commandments found in Surat Al-Taubah.
